More proof that Shanny just makes it up as he goes. PK with a nothing hit that happens most nights across the league yields a 10-game suspension, yet frenchy puts Boyle in the hospital and he gets 5 games. Unreal.

Garth, I agree with you on the Laperriere hit but where were you on the Foligno hit on Filppula? He clearly left his feet, targeted the head and lead with the elbow/forearm, clearly a dirty hit but no noise from the former Sabres Blogger who trumpeted the return of Foligno despite his transgression. It was only through a stroke of luck that Filppula isn't going through rehab and LTIR. Let's try to at least make the coverage objective.

Kaleta has not been unfairly targeted. His reputation as a turtling, head hunting piece of sh1t is pretty well deserved.

Hope that helps!

2 biggest pieces of sh*t in the league - kaleta and lapiere. None is better than the other, neither gets any respect and I wish the instigator rule was abolished just for these 2 dusters. Complete jokes.

Yet neither has swung his stick with 2 hands, hitting a player already being held. Suck it, Clarky.

re:Lapierre hit on Boyle-if u slow down the play u see that it wasnt a direct hit from behind rather more from the side unfortunately Boyle was in a precarious position at point of contact.its a fast game especially when u take the skate guards off

The Lapierre hit and skimpy suspension just gives Kaleta the ammunition to fight it with an independent arbitrator. Bad timing for Shanahan.

Why do (some) Sabres fans like Kaleta? He's a marginal NHL player who has been suspended 4 times now. He's basically a complete waste of roster and cap space.

I know he's always got his head up his ass in terms of dirty play, but saying he's someone who just turtles all the time is flat out wrong. He may not fight 100% of the times he is challenged, but you also have to realize he has broken his hand a half dozen times or more during his career. Can't really expect a guy to voluntarily break his hand over and over again.

Okay. If he's not going to fight every guy, then stop taking 20 foot runs at guys, and stop with the fracking headshots and cheap plays. There is no defense for him and what he does out there.

I'm a Sabres fan, but I can't root for a guy like this, and never will. He's fake tough. To me a guy like McCormick is a lot easier to root for because, even though his role is what it is, he's more honest about it. Albeit both players have zero future in the Sabres organization.

That's his thing. His job is to be aggressive, rile up guys, draw penalties, and kill his own team's penalties off. He plays an extremely aggressive game, and he crosses the line as a result. The headbutts are the only thing that were absolutely unacceptable IMO. If his main intentions were to always hurt guys, he would've absolutely coldcocked Campbell in his fight. Instead, he stops and doesn't absolutely destroy him with an uppercut. He's done that plenty of times in the past.

GARTH'S CORNER: Lapierre Gets Off Easy

I agree in part with what was said.

I do believe that Kaleta deserved a suspension. Ten games was a bit tough, but he has a record and has shown no signs of changing. Time to send a message.

Lapierre on the otherhand delivered a thoughtless hit on an unsuspecting guy resulting in major injury (absent in PKs case). He is a guy who has a history (see hit on Nichol), despite less suspensions. If PK36s was the standard set with ten games, Lapierre's should have been 20. Lapierre's was twice as bad as Kaleta's, not half as bad.

So Garth . Taking a head shot like Kaleta did is a routine hockey play??
Wow .

I wish you would get suspended so you can stop proving you're a moron

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he is from Buffalo.

I'm not a Kaleta fan and I feel that at this point his 'game' is more of an inconvenience for the Sabres than it helps them.

However..... Since he's come into the league he has not 'turtled'. He's voluntarily backed away from fights on several occasions when the other guy has already had his gloves off and the power play is in the bag. Kaleta will fight with ANYONE and he's actually a pretty decent fighter.

For the haters that come on and say he 'turtles' they're flat out wrong.

Like I said, I don't care for him on my team but I have to defend him when people call him a turtle. They're just wrong.
